ARTICLE // Planning the School Year with the Heart in Mind

We’re a family of 7 including 5 kids ages 18, 15, 11, 10 and 7! We’re headed into year 13 of homeschooling and ended last year with our first homeschool graduate! Last year we hit the road to travel full time together in a 5th wheel toy hauler to make our learning come alive and be intentional about our oldest children’s last years at home.

I am a homeschooling mama of four sweet kids, ages ten down to four! Over the past 10 years I (with my family) have served as a missionary in Russia, as a pastor’s wife in the local church, and now live in the greater Indianapolis area running a small business and juggling life as a mom! I have been homeschooling for the past six years, and each year I learn more about my kids, myself, Jesus, being a wife to my husband, and my love for coffee! My guilty pleasures are chocolate, carbonated water, running, shopping, and Target!

Jenny is a mama to five little girls ages 7, 5, 3, 2, and 7 months. A former public school teacher, Jenny is in her third year of homeschooling and loves the freedom and beauty it provides her family. Jenny and her husband both attended public school and are so thankful to have found this new lifestyle and are particularly drawn to a Charlotte Mason style of education. They raise their family in a mere 800 square feet of home, but still manage to live a homestead-minded life with backyard chickens, homemade bread, a small garden, and a free range rabbit. They dream of owning property to expand their tiny "farm". Their family is big on outdoor adventures and spends a week every summer road tripping to new places across the states. Camping and hiking are favorite pastimes and they own more books than clothes. Jenny leads a local homeschool nature group and enjoys writing for homeschool and christian women's publications as she grows in motherhood

Chrissi Jennings and her husband Chris are raising their team in Southern California. They have 5 children and they are in their 8th year of homeschooling. Chrissi's favorite things about homeschooling are being able to engage in full-time discipleship with her babes, flexibility/freedom in learning, the gift of doing life together, and how much it refines her and sharpens her in her walk with Jesus. She is so thankful for all those who God has used to encourage her along the way, and loves to encourage other mamas on this journey of homeschooling.

Alyssa is a mama to 7 precious children. Her and her husband Ben are currently in the long process of building their home debt free and they are beginning their 9th year of homeschooling. Alyssa has a passion for the gospel and is thankful for the opportunity to be able to share truth with her children throughout their homeschooling days.
